Winter's coming, Our First Snow

Yesterday it snowed for the first time this Fall. We had a few flurries here and there late at night and early morning but not enough to stick to the ground like it did yesterday and over night. The snow quickly melted that you see in the pictures but like I said it snowed over night and there snow on the ground this morning. About a inch or more is on the ground. Going to warm up to about 35 to day so it wont last long.

I like seeing it snow or waking up to see snow on the ground. Any one else get any snow?

Got something sad to blog about our gray hen named Fracas that I've bogged about in the past is very sick. I'm hoping she gets better. I really like this very kind and playful family pet and friend...Matt

Scoop on the Chicken Coop

We just got a small chicken coop finished for my mom's chicken (the gray one) and my brother decided to put some of his younger chicks in there too. Wanted to show you all pictures of the coop and some of the chickens. They seem happy but they do fight some. My mom's chicken sleeps in the coop at night and gets to play outside during the day.

Also wanted to update you about the OLS swap. Sent a box of goodies to my swap buddy yesterday. She should get it early next week...Matt

A hen that doesn't want to be a wet hen...

The gray chicken I've posted about before in this blog is ether the oddest or smartest chicken I've seen. It's was one of my brother chickens who lives next door to me but now my mom clams her and now that the dry spill this summer is over this hen wants to stay on our back porch and sleep with our cats. btw...Our cats our scared of it and wont get near her because she chases after them if they get near her. lol...It was funny watching my cat Casper get chased by her the other day.

My mom wants to make her a small hen house so she would be safe from wild animals and stray dogs that might kill her in the night.

I do have some bad news to blog about. Someone stole my brother's tame father goose that he's had for many years. I posted pictures of him on my blog before. We thought maybe some wild animal might of got him but we didn't see any signs that this is what happened. I'm really sad about this because our family loved that goose because he was so friendly. I'm going to really miss seeing him around the house. :-(

Peaches, Blackberries and a Happy Hen

Thought I post some pictures of some more stuff growing and living around my house.

I posted a few months ago a picture of my dad's peaches growing but they where mostly green then. Here is new pictures of them, bigger and starting to ripening. There is also some blackberry bushes close to our garden that has berries on them. I took a few pictures of some of the berries for you to see.

Also there's a small gray chicken in our yard. It's one of my brother's chickens. It decided to come from next door at his house to live down here with us. My mom feeds it bird seed from time to time and it's seems to be a very nice and happy little hen. I usually name the chickens that hang out in my yard. I need to think of a name for her. I named the last two hens "Thelma & Louise" from the movie with the same name, that use to come by here to hang out.
