Winter's coming, Our First Snow

Yesterday it snowed for the first time this Fall. We had a few flurries here and there late at night and early morning but not enough to stick to the ground like it did yesterday and over night. The snow quickly melted that you see in the pictures but like I said it snowed over night and there snow on the ground this morning. About a inch or more is on the ground. Going to warm up to about 35 to day so it wont last long.

I like seeing it snow or waking up to see snow on the ground. Any one else get any snow?

Got something sad to blog about our gray hen named Fracas that I've bogged about in the past is very sick. I'm hoping she gets better. I really like this very kind and playful family pet and friend...Matt

Fall's Beauty

I thought I'd take a few pictures of the Fall color on the trees and on the hills around my house. Heard I might get some snow next week so winter is not far off. Doubt it will be much if it does snow. If it snows I'll try to take some pictures for my blog.

Made a few updates to my blog these past few days like Yahoo's Bloglog. I hope you enjoy them...Matt

Fall & Halloween Decorations & Swap Update

Here is some picture of my fall and Halloween decorations I have around my house. Think I did a pretty good job with what I had. Sad to think that Halloween will soon be over.

Also wanted to give my blog readers a late update about the OLS Fall/Halloween swap I was in. My swap buddy sent me a $20 Amazon Gift card by email instead of a swap box by mail. Bought me one of the Stephenie Meyer's Twilight books that I've been wanting and a box set of four Tycoon games for my computer. I was kind of hoping for a box of goodies but getting to pick out my gifts was kind of nice too. At least I got what I wanted with the gift card. I think gift cards will be off my swap want/wish list next year. I like them but would really just like a box of stuff for swaps that I'm in. Getting just a gift card is disappointing swap gift and knocks some of the fun out of being in a swap for me after reading about fun things other people got in this swap.

Can't wait to start reading book one of the Twilight series of books. The movie for this book comes out next month and it looks to be good as well.

Have a safe, sweet, and Happy Halloween!!,

43rd Greenup Old Fashion Days

Oct. 1st was the start of a fall festival called Greenup Old Fashion Days in my hometown. It ended yesterday and I had a lot of fun. It was a four day festival but I only got to go the last two days of it. I took some pictures and thought you all might want to see them. One is a picture when I went on the train ride.

Here's a link to the official website of Greenup Old Fashion Days:

Matt's Fall Harvest

It was time to pick gourds and pumpkins. Some of the vines are dieing and drying out so I thought I'd pick some of my gourds before the rot. I'm using them to decorate the front porch of my home. I also picked four of my five pumpkins too even thou they didn't grow bigger than I'd hoped and one had a hole in it and was rotting. I plan on planting some more fall stuff next year and hopefully they will do better.
I also changed the my blog colors for Fall and updated it...Matt

Joined a Halloween/Fall Swap

I just joined a Halloween/Fall tonight on the sweepstakes site "OLS" that I use to enter my sweepstakes. This swap is kind of like a secret Santa thing online. I listed things I like on OLS and a another person in the swap becomes my swap buddy and sends me a box of goodies and I get a swap buddy to send stuff they like. I've been in this swap the past two years and it gives me something fun to do during the Fall/Halloween season.

This is my third year doing this swap. The first year I did this swap kind of sucked. I got a lot of things I couldn't use. I even got a lot of old used things non fall or Halloween related but the host of the swap made up for it and sent me a gift card. She is so nice. Last years swap stuff I got made up for the crappy stuff I got the first year. I got lots of candy and decorations and other neat stuff. I plan on blogging about what I get this year and posting pictures of what I got so check back soon for an update. I love doing swaps even tho mostly ladies do them.

Pumpkin Flowers & Climbing Gourds

It's been almost a month since I last showed you pictures of my pumpkin plants.

Thought I'd update you all on the stuff I planted for this fall. As you can see my pumpkins patch now has flowers in it. Some of the pretty yellow flowers have pumpkins coming out of them and I happened to take a few pictures of a happy little bumble bee in them. I'm also happy see there getting palliated. Wish I would of took time to take pictures of the flowers when they at there prettiest.

There been a few signs of deer near by, I hope they stay out of the garden.

My gourd vines are growing high too. A friend of mine already has some nice sized gourds on her vines. I hope to see the same on mine too very soon...Matt

Blooms in the Pumpkin Patch

I have blooms in my pumpkin patch. :-) Hope this means I'm going to have lots of pumpkins this fall. I'm afraid that the geese might eat them but I hope they don't because I'd really like to have my own pumpkins this fall. They already ate my first watermelon bloom. :-( I heard my brother plans on selling the baby geese.

Here some pictures of the growing pumpkin blooms and a picture of some the pumpkin patch in the garden.
