Blooms in the Pumpkin Patch

I have blooms in my pumpkin patch. :-) Hope this means I'm going to have lots of pumpkins this fall. I'm afraid that the geese might eat them but I hope they don't because I'd really like to have my own pumpkins this fall. They already ate my first watermelon bloom. :-( I heard my brother plans on selling the baby geese.

Here some pictures of the growing pumpkin blooms and a picture of some the pumpkin patch in the garden.

Fun in the Pool

I said it another post that I'd post a picture of the pool when it's filled up with water, so here's a picture. I've been in it about three times so far. The water has been kind of cold the times I got in it but hopefully it will get warmer as Summer goes on. I been playing in it with my two year old nephew. He loves to walk in it and shot me with a water gun that I got him.

Hornet Nest

My mom showed me this today, It's a hornet's nest that was on a corner of our front porch. My dad said he killed the hornet yesterday and it had lots of eggs on it. I'm glad he did, I hate all bees except honey bees. I really hate hornets because they are so mean.

I remember when I was a kid, I had a apple tree by my house and my family had to watch where we stepped because the hornets on the fallen apples would fly up at us and try there best to sting us. I was stung a few times and there stings made us swell up like you where hit by a big rock or something. I've always had a fear of bees.

Scary Black Snake

Seen this black snake while I was coming back to the house this evening from taking pictures of the goose and her babies in the pond for a sweepstakes I'm entering. I was shocked to see in our back yard so close to the house. I showed my brother the picture and he thought it looked like a black racer snake. I asked my dad if it was poisonous and he said no.

Still, I don't like them near by the house because I'm afraid my baby nephew might get bit by one of these.

I did like how the sun shine on it's skin. I entered this picture in a pets & wildlife part of the sweepstakes I was taking pictures for anyways. Maybe this picture can give me a better chance on winning a prizes.

Goldfish Rescue 2

Yesterday I saved four more goldfish stranded in the creek puddles. Storms came threw and brought strong flooding rains and lightning. The storms knocked out my electric and phone. The heat was unbearable in the house and outside while we was waiting for it to be turned back on. The electric and phone was turned back on late yesterday a was a big relief.

In the picture you will only see three of the goldfish because I didn't find the other until after it was taken.

Goldfish Rescue

About a month ago I was outside walking around enjoying the weather when I walked toward our storage building. I seen my dad packing around a white bucket. I asked him what he had in the bucket and he said nothing yet but I'm going to put a fish in it that I found while I was headed toward the garden. I went with him and sure enough there was a big goldfish flopping in a small puddle.

It rained hard a few hours before that and my brother has a pond on the other side of a big hill next door to me and my brother stocks the pond with baby goldfish every few years. This goldfish must of washed down the creek that runs from the pond when it was raining heavy and when the rain stopped it must of got stuck in this puddle. I picked in up and put it in the bucket. I was surprised it was still alive because it probably wouldn't of lasted much longer in this tiny puddle. You can see that in some of the pictures that it was losing some of it's scales. If one of our cats would of seen it first it would of made a big meal for them.

I showed it to my mom and brother and he took a picture of it in the bucket. It was getting late in the evening and I needed to find a place to put it before it got dark so I set up an aquarium outside and took pictures of it. The next day I packed the bucket up the hill and to the pond with my dad and released it.

I was happy to help it and was glad I had the chance to take pictures of it to share with you.
